The servers are directly connected to the Internet Backbone via two OC-3 and two DS-3 lines provided by UUNet, and Sprint. The OC-3's are capable of 155.52Mbps (100 times faster than a single T-1). Additionally, each multi-honed DS3 can transfer data at 44.736Mbps. That's 27 times faster than a T-1. To put this in perspective, it would take only 2 minutes and 2 seconds to transfer 680MB (megabyte) file via a single DS3 and only 34.95 seconds to transfer that same file on the OC-3. That same transfer would take 58 minutes and 43 seconds on a single T-1. This essentially gives us the equivalent capacity of over 208 T-1 lines.
